SMARTPHONES

LEARN ABOUT SMARTPHONES – EARN YOUR OWN DIGITAL ASSISTANT IN EVERY ASPECT OF EVERYDAY LIFE

Smartphone is definitely smarter than us and is able to keep us addicted to it  !

Phones we choose for you

**************

Beside main function of receiving or making calls there are many other things that are so useful in our daily life , especially if we travel.

Music is one of them. Load up favourite music before go anywhere, and the long waiting times at the airport or in the bus won’t seem so long anymore! (its good to have a good set of earphones. They’re worth it! )

Also, today some websites have a large selection of the latest movies and our favourite TV shows that we can download straight on our phone to watch later. They’re ideal when we want a long flight to go by smoothly! (many websites allow us to download movies and TV series and might be better options if we know how to upload them on our device).

One of the most useful things is of course GPS navigation together with different GPS applications. GPS is great on a road trip or even when walking through a city. The days of the paper map are long gone. So easely it can help us in many situations:

  • Need to know how to get from point A to point B while on foot?
  • Rented a car and want to know the best way to get to the golf course?
  • Finished our 18-holes and need to fill up our tank?
  • Lost in the jungle and want to know where to go?
  • Want to go to the museum with public transit?
  • Visiting a country where there are no addresses?
  • Want to see all the surrounding restaurants and hotels with descriptions, opening hours and reviews?
  • Can’t find the exact location you’re looking for? …

(it is always good advice to download the GPS Maps and applications to our smartphones so we can use it offline).

If it’s true for music and movies it’s true for books also: no need to bring the heavy paper version with us anymore. All we need to do is to download them on our phone! (while electronic books on smartphones are great when travelling, they can be tiring on the eyes. Try some of the many apps that are available – they have different display options and some might be more comfortable for our eye than others).

If we travel to foreign country and can’t understand local language, best thing would be to have translator and dictionary (or even voice recognition option) on our smartphones (usually we would need to have mobile data to use some of these applications offline… however some offline dictionaries can be downloaded if we don’t have WiFi or data available).

Book flights, trains, buses and hotel rooms! Today, 95% of things that need to be booked can be done so online. A lot of businesses have even shut down their call centres and refuse bookings anywhere but online. And finding an internet café can be a hassle. Even worse: business centres in hotels charge crazy rates. Booking everything from our smartphone is the easiest way to go.(our favourite booking websites might have apps and widgets available. Look for them in favourite app store!).

Having a smartphone is like having a computer in our pocket. With our phone, we can keep up with local and international news, we can see what our friends are up to back home, we can upload awesome pictures on our social networks pages, we can follow the local trends of our current location, we can make video calls with our relatives and much more.

There are many accessories that can help us use our smartphones on the road. Here are a few:

– Most phone chargers are equipped with a transformer which means that any power source will charge our phone. However we’ll need to carry an adapter for the power outlets for our destinations.

– Using our phone all day can kill our battery in a flash. Get a phone that has a removable battery  (buy back-up batteries) or buy an external charge (power bank) If phone’s battery cannot be removed.

– If phone has an SD Card slot, buy a 64GB or 128GB card, they’re relatively cheap. We’ll have all the space we need to store our music, videos and books.

after all…

  • In the next 10 years, we expect at least five billion people worldwide to own smartphones, giving every individual with such a phone instant access to the full power of the Internet, every moment of every day ….
  • Smartphones these days keep getting thinner and smarter people the opposite …
  • The average smartphone user checks his or her device every six and a half minutes …

  • The smartphone revolution is under-hyped, more people have access to phones than access to running water. We’ve never had anything like this before since the beginning of the planet.

Our smartphone dear LLET friend has already replaced our camera, our calendar and our alarm clock. Don’t let it replace our family !

COMPUTERS

LEARN ABOUT COMPUTERS – EARN A DIGITAL FRIEND WHO IS ALWAYS LOGICAL, CONSISTENT AND WHO CAN PERFORM TASKS TOO DIFFICULT OR EXPENSIVE FOR US

Our computers have become windows through which we can gaze upon a world that is virtually without horizons or boundaries !

Today it’s almost impossible to imagine that someone can live without computers. They have become an electronic device of almost every day use for individuals of every age, and essential in almost all the business dealings that are made nowadays.

The most that any industry has gained from the discovery of the computer is the business industry because of its nature.

In recent years they have gained significance as they have improved the efficiency and productivity of work done. Large amounts of information in industrial and business sectors as well as in the personal lives are stored on servers.

Uses of computer

Computing can help businesses by making their staff efficient and productive and also save their valuable time in any business or office.

In schools they will help the learners to comprehend the basic concepts better with the help of video or audio examples.

In higher learning institutions they will help the professors and researchers to do their work very fast and in an efficient and better way and also help them to share the same knowledge with their other members of staff.

They also become a vital gadget in several sectors; railways, banking, electricity, telephone departments, shopping carts etc are just but a few of them.

Also they are used in the medical industry to help doctors in diagnosing the diseases quickly and efficiently.

All the administrative systems, whether private or public are now using these systems and this practice can be evident in every part of the world.

Computing advancements in business

Computers have also helped the media and the entertainment industries. Be it a multi-million dollars movie or a two minutes commercial, they have changed the usual concept of providing entertainment to the public.

With the electronics business growing so fast, the industry has also brought about lots of inventions. Tablets, palmtops, and laptops have replaced the desktops.

With the decrease in size, it has become very easy to carry and use them anywhere you are to the fullest.

The importance of computers in our daily lives can be judged by the number of people using them each single day. They are not only used by professionals, but also by the little children learning coding and adults at our homes.

Today, everything related to your everyday life can be done in a few simple clicks.

We can order our breakfast online, we can read the newspapers online, we can work from the comfort of our home with the help of a laptop.

We can watch movies and videos and movies, we can listen to music through soundcloud, we can read novels and books through e-books, we can play games, we can also contact people and talk to them through our microphone and email.

These are just few things that can be done with the click of a button.

Interesting facts about computers

  • The first electronic computer ENIAC weighed more than 27 tons and took up 1800 square feet;
  • Only about 10% of the world’s currency is physical money, the rest only exists on computers;
  • Doug Engelbart invented the first computer mouse in around 1964 which was made of wood;
  • More than 5000 new computer viruses are released every month;
  • If there was a computer as powerful as the human brain, it would be able to do 38 thousand trillion operations per second and hold more than 3580 terabytes of memory;
  • An average person normally blinks 20 times a minute, but when using a computer he/she blinks only 7 times a minute;
  • The first ever hard disk drive was made in 1979, and could hold only 5MB of data;
  • The first 1GB hard disk drive was announced in 1980 which weighed about 550 pounds, and had a price tag of $40,000;
  • More than 80% of the emails sent daily are spams…

after all…

Computers themselves, and software yet to be developed, will revolutionize the way we learn. But, the spread of computers and the Internet will put jobs in two categories – People who tell computers what to do, and people who are told by computers what to do. The real danger is not that computers will begin to think like men, but that men will begin to think like computers.

Be always aware dear LLET friend that computers are finite machines – when given the same input, they always produce the same output. They have lots of memory but no imagination.

Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding !

EDUCATION

LEARN ABOUT EDUCATION – EARN A TREASURE THAT WILL FOLLOW YOU EVERYWHERE

A smart man makes a mistake, learns from it, and never makes that mistake again. But a wise man finds a smart man and learns from him how to avoid the mistake altogether !

Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life.

People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge. Some say education is the process of gaining information about the surrounding world while knowledge is something very different. They are right. But then again, information cannot be converted into knowledge without education. Education makes us capable of interpreting things, among other things. It is not just about lessons in textbooks. It is about the lessons of life.

Education helps to make better people

Although humans are the most advanced and developed species on Earth, they are in actuality nothing more than animals who think and behave in a rational way. But without education, that rationalism cannot be brought about within an individual. It is only by being educated in rules, regulation and manners of life that a person can achieve the ability to think rationally and become a well-mannered person.

It brings confidence and ensures a successful future

Nothing can be achieved in life if we don’t have faith in ourselves. Education plays a very important role in cultivating self-confidence within us, so that we can become independent, communicate efficiently with others and overcome various difficulties that impede us from reaching our goals.

Education is the means by which a person can have a happy and successful life. It helps us to recognize our hidden skills and talents, using which we can build up our career, gain employment and have a secured future. Thus, it helps us to achieve new heights in life.

Helps To Think Logically and helps progress of a nation

An educated individual makes attempts to understand everything that is unknown to them, instead of following others blindly. They question the integrity of misconceptions and try to find logical alternatives for explaining the truth behind them. Thus, education helps a person to think logically and reject false facts.

Educated people are the building blocks of a nation. They know how to differentiate right from wrong, and do not need the advice of a third person for doing so. They are pretty aware of the resources available on their own land as well as the correct methods to utilize them. However, world today lacks in an efficient system for educating the rural masses and that is what’s hindering the social and economic progress of the many countries to a great extent. So, it is very important to give equal importance to urban as well as rural education in world and to help that more people understand such things as fundamental rights, duties towards the country, existing laws and rules and moral and ethical values of life. Not only that this will aid all the citizens to judge things more analytically, but also allow them to contribute effectively towards development of the nation as a whole.

after all…

Education is one of the most essential virtues in the life of an individual. Apart from being a necessity of the society, it is an important symbol of freedom and helps in leading a good life.

One thing we can do dear LLET friend, is to provide education for all: no child left behind and change the world for good!!!
