In 1990, Bruce Poon Tip founded G Adventures with nothing more than two credit cards and a burning desire to create an authentic, sustainable travel experience like nothing the world had ever seen. By offering adventure-craving travellers an alternative to the resorts and cruises they were accustomed to, he not only changed the way people looked at their holiday time, but changed the face of travel forever. More than 28 years later, the only thing that hasn’t changed is an inherent belief in the core values that continue to inspire our being and business today.

Our story
The year was 1988… While most of the world was dreaming of hoverboard-mounted lasers, joining wild pyramid schemes and listening to Milli Vanilli, two mates from Melbourne spurned these distractions and instead turned their youthful, entrepreneurial beards toward the thing they loved the most – travel.

What to Expect with Exodus: Small Guided Groups
If you’ve never tried adventure travel before, this is a great place to start.
You can join a small guided group, our most popular way to travel and how we started out. Group sizes vary depending on the trip, but on average you can expect 12-16 people, plus a fully qualified, experienced local leader. Their role is to keep you safe, take care of the logistics and give you a local’s insight and knowledge, helping you unlock your destination’s best kept secrets. It’s these little tips that you don’t find in guidebooks, and the conversations you have, that make a leader so integral to this style of trip.
If you’re on your own, you’ll be glad to know that around half of Exodus travellers book solo, so it’s rare you’ll be the only single traveller. We never charge you extra for being a solo traveller; you can choose to pay a single room supplement, or share a room with one other person of the same gender.

Perfect for adventurers who want to go at their own pace. Our active European self-guided adventures mean you have the back up of Exodus’ 40 years of experience, without sharing any of your holiday. Choose walking or cycling; we’ll send you detailed maps, route notes and guidance, book all your hotels and transfer your bags for you, leaving you free to enjoy a hassle-free holiday under your own steam.
What to Expect with Exodus: Tailormade
Exactly as it sounds, we’ll tailor a bespoke adventure that’s just for you. Either take inspiration from our group itineraries and tweak to suit you, or build your perfect adventure from the ground up. Furthermore, through providing hands-on and eye-opening learning experiences that foster authentic connections between volunteers and host community members, we are able to empower global citizens who will continue to spread GIVE’s values and ignite sustainable change worldwide.
EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES TO HELP THEMSELVES
In contrast to the traditional needs-based development model which focuses on local problems and relies on outside agencies for help, asset-based community development is a principle of international sustainable travel that emphasizes existing strengths and potentials within a community and empowers its members to take action. When identifying projects, we first assess the resources, skills, and knowledge already available in a community, unite the community around issues that inspire its members to act. Then we work alongside local leaders to form a plan of action to yield a positive impact. GIVE’s ultimate goal is for our host communities to take full responsibility of our international volunteer projects as soon as possible.
AWAKENING A GENERATION OF GLOBAL CITIZENS
As valuable as GIVE’s projects on the ground may be, they are just tiny drops in a vast ocean of global inequality. Solving the world’s greatest challenges and ending extreme poverty will require a lifetime of collective action from ordinary people around the world. Since 2012, by establishing genuine connections between our volunteers and host community members, educating volunteers on the world’s biggest challenges, educating them in sustainable tourism and inspiring them to take action, and providing alumni with post-trip tools and resources to increase their impact upon returning home, GIVE has become a powerful catalyst in activating thousands of global citizens across the planet.
